Paneer Tikka | How to do Paneer Tikka in Oven | North-Indian Starters

Hi friends, it's a pleasure to catch up with you all through this lovely Blogging world, after quite a long time. Due to some professional and personal commitments, couldn't devote time for this passion of mine. With things settled in place now, Iam happy to come back with my most favourite event, the Blogging Marathon run by Srivalli.

For this week, my theme is 'North Indian Party Starters' and I would be sharing some interesting dishes. Today, its gonna be the preparation with one of everybody's fav - Paneer. Whenever we dine out, we surely would order a starter and kids love to have this Paneer Tikka most often. I have referred to several sites online to know the authentic Tandoori Paneer Tikka recipe and adapted to suit our taste-buds.The only difference is that, as I don't have a Tandoor, I sought out to bake in the Oven. It came out really well. Soft and succulent Marinated Paneer baked to perfection is pure heaven. Why not try Paneer Tikka at home so that its lot more healthier than at Restaurants?

Blogging Marathon - Wk1, Day1
Theme - North-Indian Party Starters

Preparation time - 10mins
Resting time -1-2hrs
Cooking time - 15-20mins
Serves - 4

Ingredients:

Paneer - 200gm, cubed
Veggies of your choice - As preferred
For the Marinade:-
Yoghurt / Thick curds - 1/3cup
Chilli powder - 2tsp
Roast and ground Jeera powder - 1/2tsp
Amchur / dry mango powder - 1/2tsp
Chaat Masala - 1-2tsp
Garam Masala / Kitchen King Masala - 1tsp
Green chilli paste - 1tsp (optional)
Salt - As needed

Method:-

1.  Whip the ingredients for the Marinade without adding water. Make sure the Curd is as thick as possible. If using Homemade curd, just hang it for 1/2 an hour to drain the water content.

2.  Toss in the Paneer cubes gently to coat the Marinade thoroughly.

3.  Let it sit for 1-2hrs inside the refrigerator so that the flavours are incorporated.

4.  Chop veggies of your choice into squares. Using different coloured Capsicums (Red, green and yellow) will add to the appetizing look apart from adding to flavour.

5.  Arrange the Paneer and veggies on the wooden skewers. Lay an aluminum foil over the baking tray and keep the prepared Tikkas. Gently brush the tikkas with oil. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 200C for about 15-20mins until the Paneer edges turn golden. DO NOT over-bake.

Serve hot, sprinkled with Chaat masala alongside some onion slices and lemon. Panner Tikka makes up for an excellent Party Starter!

Notes:

1. You can Grill the Tikkas on a Tandoor for the authentic taste. Alternatively, do it on a barbeque grill or the Grill mode in your oven.

2. Any other veggie like Broccoli, Mushroom and Baby corn can be used for the Tikka.

3. Marinated Paneer cubes can be left for more than 2hrs or even overnight in the fridge before baking. The more time, the nicer the flavours are infused into paneer.

4. A handy tip - Soak the wooden skewers in water for an hour before you arrange the Paneer. This step is essential so that the sticks don't get burnt during baking.

5. Don't overcook the Paneer as it turns hard and rubbery.

6. If you prefer, you can coat the veggies too with the marinade.
