1-min Chocolate Mug Cake | Microwave Chocolate Cake

When I came across this recipe at Chitrasfoodbook, was extremely  fascinated by the quick process and the way the cake had turned out. It looked very tempting and I could feel the spongy texture through her pics. I was waiting to try this soon and that day was not long. On a Sunday afternoon, I was craving for something sweet and I got reminded of this 1-min cake. That would be the best bet as I wanted to whip up something quick and at the same time, the calorie - conscious me wanted to have portion control too. This cake would satisfy both. So went ahead and wow....that was a really delicious, spongy  cake with loads to chocolate chips and we all relished every bite of it. DH and kids were really fascinated when they came to know that itFrom then on, I would tweak the base recipe with different flavours and every time, it has come out great!!Please do try for yourself to believe!

Preparation time : 3mins
Baking time : 1min
Serves - 2

Note: I had doubled the below recipe and that is what you see in the pics. It yielded a Big Mug Cake which serves 4.

Ingredients:
All-purpose flour - 2 tblsp
Sugar - 1 - 1.5 tblsp (I added a lot of choco chips, hence reduced sugar)
Cocoa powder - 1.5 tblsp
Baking powder - 1/4tsp
Salt - a pinch
Milk - 2.5 tblsp
Oil - 1 tblsp (any neutral oil like olive oil or Sunflower oil would work)
Vanilla Extract - 1/4tsp
Chocolate chips / chunks - 3-4 tblsp (I use Nestle TollHouse choco chunks)

Method:-

Take flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, sugar and salt in the Mug and mix well without lumps. Alternatively, sieve all these together and transfer to the mug.

Add in the oil, milk and Vanilla extract

Mix to combine well.

Add a generous amount of Chocolate Chips/Chunks.

Microwave on high for 1min. This is how it looks at 30sec.

After 1min, TADA!!

Top the delicious Chocolate Mug Cake with some chocolate chips and serve hot! Those choco-chips melts on the hot cake and becomes gooey, and tastes really heavenly!!
