Low fat Atta ka Sheera Recipe | Microwave Atta Halwa in 5mins

For Day 5 of this week's Low Calorie recipes, I would share an easy to make dessert recipe. Atta Sheera or Atta Halwa can be made healthy by reducing the sugar as well as replacing the ghee with Oil. I tried to cut down on the quantity of fats used but that did'nt affect the end result. The Atta sheera turned out so well and I was asked for the recipe by my friends who tasted this. This yummy dessert can be whipped up in just 5mins time..Microwave oven does the magic. Off to the recipe now!
Preparation time - 5mins
Cooking time - 5mins
Serves 4

Ingredients:-
Atta / wholewheat flour - 1/2cup
Ghee - 2tblsp
Oil - 2tblsp
Sugar - 1/4cup (add 1 or 2tblsp more if you have a sweet tooth)
Cardamom powder - 1tsp
Water - 3/4cup
Almonds, slivered - As needed

Method:-

1.  In a tsp of ghee, roast the almonds by microwaving for 30secs on high. Keep it aside.

2.  In a glass bowl, combine atta and ghee and keep it on high for 3mins. You will get a nice aroma of the flour being roasted.

3.  Add sugar, cardamom powder and 3/4cup water.

4.  Microwave on high for another 2mins until sugar has dissolved well.

5.  Garnish with roasted almonds.

Serve this Atta Halwa hot. Its a quick fix for Prasadham on busy days. Enjoy!

  4. This sheera reminds me of childhood. We use to roast atta, add ghee, sugar and eat. Though it wasn't a sheera, can imagine how wonderful it would tasted when made into one
