Ragi Lemon Sevai | Kelvaragu Sevai | Finger Millet Sevai

Cooking with millets has become a part of our healthy diet and for the third day of Blogging Marathon, I chose this very easy recipe using Ragi Sevai. This is readily available in stores and we just need to cook for a very few minutes and prepare according to taste. I chose to prepare Lemon Sevai with it and it turned out well. Off to today's recipe!

Blogging Marathon - Wk4, Day3
Theme - All about Millets

Preparation time - 15mins
Serves - 4

Ingredients :

Ragi Sevai - 1 packet (store-bought - I used Anil brand)
Sesame oil - 2tblsp
Mustard seeds - 1tsp
Urad dal - 1tsp
Channa dal - 1tsp
Curry leaves - Few
Red chilli - 3
Asafoetida - 1/4tsp
Turmeric powder - 1tsp
Lemon juice - 3/4tblsp (adjust to taste)
Salt - As needed

Method:-

1.  Soak Sevai in plain water for just 4-5mins. Drain.

2.  Spread the Sevai on the Idly mold and steam it for about 4-5mins until it is cooked. It should not be sticky to touch which shows that it is cooked.

3.  Heat oil, temper it with mustard, urad, channa dal, curry leaves, red chilli, asafoetida, salt and turmeric powder and switch off the flame.

4.  Add lemon juice and stir to combine. At last, mix in the cooked sevai and swirl to coat evenly. Add another tsp of oil if required.

Serve this Sevai as it is or with Mor Kuzhambu or any side-dish of your choice.
